LC Women’s Softball Lose First Two of the Early Season; Fall to 4-2

Lincoln College Softball suffered two losses on Tuesday to Sauk Valley Community College.  Head Coach Crystal Wurth said “We struggled today. We had a really great warm up and seemed to be ready for our toughest spring training competition so far.  Pitching and defense just had a rough day, we are going to hopefully learn from our mistakes and bounce back tomorrow.  The girls fought back throughout both games but just fell short today”

Game 1 recap:
Sydne Bryant’s big day not enough, as Lynx loses 8-1 to Sauk Valley College (MI).  Lynx lost 8-1 to Sauk Valley College on Tuesday as Stephanie Kester allowed one hit over five innings.  Darcie Hawkins took the loss for Lynx.  She allowed eight runs in six innings, walked one and struck out four.  The lone run of the game for Lynx crossed the plate in the first inning on a passed ball.  Darcie Hawkins Record 3-1

Game 2 recap:
Lynx drops 16-7 game to Sauk Valley College (MI).  Despite six hits, Lynx lost 16-7 to Sauk Valley College on Tuesday.  Maria Rangel took the loss. She allowed seven runs in two innings, walked three and struck out none.  Lynx scored one run in each of the first, fourth and fifth. In the first, Lynx scored on a passed ball, plating Sydne Bryant.  After pushing across four runs in the bottom of the second, Lynx faced just a 7-5 deficit.  A three-run error and a wild pitch fueled Lynx’s comeback. Sauk Valley College stopped the rally after Wagler got Lexi Litwiller to fly out.  One run in the bottom of the fifth helped Lynx close its deficit to 16-7.  An RBI single by Taylor Gottfriedt gave Lynx life. Sauk Valley College ‘s Wagler induced a Kelsey Lomprez to close things out.  Maria Rangel Record 1-1
