Springfield, IL – The LC softball girls battled the cold Saturday morning temperatures in Springfield, where they were defeated by LLCC in the game one by the score of 7-1. Erica Jordan (2-5) took the loss for the Lynx. In the second game, Kelsey Prater (1-3) took the loss for the Lynx who remained scoreless in the nightcap. Final score was 9-0.
Leading hitters for the day were Lexi Litwiller, Taylor Hewit (RBI), Jenna Harcharik and Kaitlin Snyder. The Lynx catcher Taylor Hewitt had great efforts behind the plate throwing out a base runner in the bottom of the first inning of game one and in the bottom of the second inning again caught the would-be base stealer in a run down while attempting to take 3rd base. Coach Wurth said, “Lincoln Land is a running team and Taylor did a nice job of setting the tone early, that she had a good arm and could make the plays. LLCC only attempted to steal one other time during the double header.”
The Lynx have four games this week beginning on Tuesday at Millikin at 4pm, Thursday at Danville 2pm, Saturday HOME vs John Wood 1pm, and Sunday at Lewis & Clark 1pm.
