Normal, IL – LC opened conference play with defending conference champs Heartland Hawks Thursday afternoon.  Lincoln College battled for 5 2/3 innings before Heartland bats took over defeating the Lynx 13-6.  Erica Jordan (2-4) took the loss for the Lynx.  LC compiled 9 hits lead by Lexi Litwiller who had 2 hits including an RBI.  Taylor Hewitt and Erica Jordan also had 2 hits with Jordan driving in 3 runs.

In the nightcap, the Lynx were shut out 7-0.  Kelsey Prater (1-2) took the loss for the Lynx.  Heartland only allowed 2 hits in the 7 inning complete game. Taylor Hewitt and Melissa Crivokapich had the only hits of the game for the Lynx.

Coach Wurth said, “The score of the first game does not reflect how close we were for 5 2/3 innings.  The girls hit the heck out of the ball and battled. Heartland would score and we would bounce right back with a run or two the next half inning. The Hawks offense just got the best of us in the later innings. I was happy with our efforts at Heartland. As I told the girls last night ‘Welcome to our MWAC softball conference’. It is a tough, tough conference. This was by far the best offensive competition that we have faced so far.”

The Lady Lynx drop to 3-6 on the season.  The Lynx take on Lincoln Land Community College Saturday in Springfield at 1pm.
