Lincoln, IL — The lady Lynx softball team played hard during their first home game Wednesday evening. Lincoln defeated Millikin JV 8- 6 behind the pitching efforts of Jordyn Steiner (2-0). She allowed 8 hits and struck out 3 with no walks. Outstanding hitting efforts from- Lohgan Bryant(2 for 4) with 2 doubles, Christi Dixon (2 for 3) single & double, and Jessica Dorgan (3 for 3) single & 2 doubles.
The second game was a constant battle until the Lady Lynx scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning. The final score was Lincoln 15- Millikin JV 14. Jana Wright (2-1) earned the win- making a reappearance in the top of the 7th inning. Casey Barretts- lead the Lynx offense by hitting 2 home runs (3rd & 5th Inning) & a double- 5 RBI’s. Others contributing to the win offensively were- Darrian Chrzanoski (2 for 3) 2 singles & double, Rachel England (3 for 4) 2 singles & double, Gretchen Stenger (2 for 4) double & single.
“Overall we had a really good hitting day. The girls compiled 28 hits in 13 innings, so I am extremely happy with our offensive efforts. Our bats are what won the game for us. We had solid hits in key moments of the games. The girls were relaxed and having fun playing in front of a home crowd. It was a good day,” Coach Wurth stated.
The Lynx are now 6-4.
The Lynx start conference play, on Thursday against Parkland College (DH) at 2 p.m. in Lincoln.
