Normal, IL – The Lady Lynx Softball team faced the Heartland Hawks Friday afternoon at the Corn Crib. Jordyn Steiner (1-1) took the loss in the first game allowing 7 hits, 6 walks and 6 strikeouts. Jessica Dorgan lead off the second inning with a triple down the right field line. Katie Jimison got Dorgan in on a suicide bunt to score the first run for the Lynx. Then in the 4th inning Gretchen Stenger lead off the inning with a double bouncing off of the center field fence. She scored on a Heartland error following a ground ball hit by Ellie Riggs. The lady Lynx trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the 6th inning. Heartland went on to score 4 runs in the inning. Sarah Garrison also contributed a hit in the first game. Final Score was Lynx 2- Heartland 7.
Kylee West took the loss for the second game (0-1). She allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, 1 strike out and no walks in 2 innings of play. Kelsey Prater (0-2) pitched in relief for the remaining 2 innings, contributing 3 strikeouts while walking none. Darrian Chrzanoski had the only hit of the game, earning a stand up double. Final score of the nightcap was Lincoln 0- Heartland 8.
LC head coach Crystal Wurth said, “It was great to be on the field again, after a 14 day stretch with no games, we came out and played well the first game. These girls are talented and we can hit the heck out of the ball, but we need to find consistency in the circle and tighten up defense”.

Lincoln College Softball travels to Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL on Saturday, March 23rd for games at 1pm & 3pm. The Lynx will host Spoon River College Sunday, March 24th at 1pm & 3pm in Lincoln, weather permitting.
